Unveiling the Truth: Does Teeth Whitening Actually Work?

Teeth Whitening

The first thing people notice about you is your precious smile 🙂 And in today’s image-conscious world, a bright, white smile is often seen as a hallmark of good health and confidence.

So, there is nothing special to say that people are chasing teeth whitening for a sparkling, brilliant smile. Now, teeth whitening has become a popular cosmetic treatment. It is commonly associated with youthfulness and good oral hygiene. But there are several factors behind it.

However, there are some myths and misconceptions about teeth whitening that make it difficult for patients to make an informed decision. But with so many products and procedures available, it’s natural to wonder: does teeth whitening actually work?

Today, we’ll help you know the effectiveness of teeth whitening and the different methods available so you better take care of your teeth.

Understanding Teeth Whitening and How Does It Work?

Some foods, drinks (like coffee & tea), smoking, and medications lead to tooth discolouration due to staining or plaque buildup. Tooth discolouration is also caused due to enamel thinning.

Teeth whitening is a process that lightens the colour of your teeth, helping to remove stains and discolouration. This can be achieved at the dentist’s office by professional teeth whitening. Also, it can be achieved at home by using over-the-counter products.

It is important to know the reason behind the discolouration, i.e., stains. Stains can be of two types – intrinsic or extrinsic.

Intrinsic stains occur on the deeper surface of the tooth and are caused by aging, fluoride ingestion, certain medications, or trauma to the tooth. While extrinsic stains are caused by food, drinks (like coffee, tea, and red wine), tobacco, and poor oral hygiene.

Teeth whitening treatments generally come with bleaching agents such as carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. These agents break down stains into smaller molecules, making the colour less concentrated and your teeth brighter.

Types of Teeth Whitening

1) Professional Teeth Whitening

  • In-office Teeth Whitening: This method is the quickest and most effective way for teeth whitening. Medical-grade teeth whiteners have high concentrations of bleaching agents, hence they bring immediate better results. Also, sometimes, this effect can be further enhanced by a laser or special light. In-office teeth whitening is effective and fast, hence it is quite expensive.
  • At-Home Teeth Whitening Kits: Dentists give custom-fitted trays and professional-grade whitening gel & pens to patients for home use. While not as immediate as in-office treatments, these at-home teeth whitening kits offer significant whitening over a few weeks.

2) Over-the-Counter Products

OTC products can be purchased online and used at home easily such as whitening toothpastes and whitening strips & gels. They’re convenient to use but are less effective as compared to at-home teeth whitening and in-office teeth whitening.

Effectiveness and Expectations

Teeth whitening can be highly effective, but the outcome can vary based on several factors such as the type of stain, the initial colour of teeth, and the method that has been used.

  • Extrinsic stains are easier to remove than intrinsic stains.
  • The initial colour of your teeth can influence how much whitening can be achieved. If the initial colour was cream, so the sparkling, it can be challenging to get the white, brightening teeth.
  • And if the professional teeth whitening treatment has been used, so the bright white teeth can be expected.

It is better to know the truth than to keep fooling yourself even after knowing it. So set realistic expectations.

As professional teeth whitening treatments are fast and effective, they don’t last long. The results can fade over time, especially if you continue to consume staining substances. Also, teeth whitening can lighten your teeth, but it may not achieve a pure, bright white for everyone.

Side Effects and Safety Considerations

People ask – Are there any side effects occur from teeth whitening?

Yes.

Increased tooth sensitivity and mild gum irritation can be side effects of teeth whitening. But don’t worry, teeth whitening is safe if done correctly and carefully. But if you still experience any side effects, consult with your dentist and follow the instructions provided on the whitening product you used.

Is Teeth Whitening Worth It?

Teeth Whitening Comparison

For many people, teeth whitening is an effective way to enhance their smile and boost their confidence. While the effectiveness can vary, especially with different types of stains and products.

If you’re considering teeth whitening, consult your dentist to find the best and safest option for you. With the right approach, you can get a whiter, more radiant smile.

What Types of Facials are Offered by Estheticians?

What Types of Facials are Offered by Estheticians?

There are various types of facials that our estheticians can offer, and each has its own benefits. To ensure that you choose the right type of facial for yourself, it is essential to ask your esthetician about the different options and what their benefits might be. We all have different types of skin and skin problems. But it’s good to know that there is probably a facial that can help. Facials are designed around targeting problem areas from oily skin to dry, and they even help reduce the look of aging. With so many options out there, it’s no wonder people are always asking, “What types of facials do you offer, and what would benefit me?”   Let’s look at some general options, what they are, what symptoms or problems could find some relief in facials, and why more people are opting to get a facial today.

The Main Reasons for Getting a Facial

People get a facial for many reasons, from getting help with troubled skin to just relaxing. Having a facial provides many benefits. However, some people simply like the relaxation they provide. Either way, we will look at a general overview of the different types of facials and what they have to offer. Here are some of the main types. Keep in mind some facials will cover more than one of these categories.

Acne Facials: These facials aim to calm and heal the skin, reducing inflammation and redness and clearing up breakouts. They are effective at de-puffing skin, making it appear smoother.

Anti-Aging Facials: Anti-aging facials use ingredients like antioxidants and peptides to mitigate signs of aging. These facials suit people with oily or combination skin. Furthermore, anti-aging facials help improve the appearance of wrinkles and age spots by reducing their visibility.

Brightening Facial: These facials use ingredients to lighten and brighten the skin. They are recommended for people with darker skin or darker skin spots. This is because they are more effective than other types of facials for this skin tone. Results of a brightening facial will appear in about four weeks, which makes them a very popular option.

Before deciding on exactly what type of facial you’d like to get, you should first consider your skin type and what results you are looking for. Again, some facials will cover more than one of these categories. However, if you have questions or concerns, you can always ask your esthetician about recommendations.

What is a Brightening Facial?

A brightening facial is one type of facial specifically designed to lighten and brighten the skin. It can be used for conditions such as sun damage, aging, or acne. It can also help achieve a more youthful look by reducing oiliness, removing wrinkles, and improving skin tone.

Brightening facials is an umbrella term covering many different facials that provide this “brightening” effect on the skin.

The benefits of getting a brightening facial include:

  • Reduced signs of aging
  • Better complexion
  • Smoother skin texture and tone
  • Increased moisture levels
  • Decreased oiliness and brighter-looking skin.

Before getting any type of facial, it’s important to ask the esthetician any questions you may have about the treatment plan and potential side effects. There is a magnitude of different specific types of facials, so find one that targets your problem areas.

What is an Antiaging Facial?

Anti-aging facials are treatments that use special ingredients designed to reduce signs of aging in the skin, such as:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Age spots
  • Dark circles around the eyes
  • Enlarged pores.

Some treatments also focus on brightening dull or dehydrated skin. While other facials may target acne breakouts or other specific skin types or conditions, these are designed to target the signs of aging.

When choosing an anti-aging facial treatment, it’s important to select products that best suit your needs. This means understanding your own unique skin type, as well as any areas that need special attention, like dark circles or age spots. This allows you to get the maximum benefit from the treatment.

After completing an anti-aging facial treatment, there are many benefits, including:

  • Reduced signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improved tone and texture of the skin,
  • Firmer and lifted sagging areas
  • Brighter dull, dehydrated areas
  • Reduction in size/appearance of large pores
  • Smoother appearance on age spots
  • Hydration
  • Stimulation of collagen production.

All these results come together to give your face a more youthful appearance over time!

What are Acne Facials?

Acne facials target acne-prone skin, reducing blemishes, blackheads, whiteheads, and cystic pimples through deep cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and masking with inflammation-reducing products. Additionally, acne facials include massages that relax the skin and improve circulation. These facials are especially useful for individuals with chronic or severe acne breakouts. They are designed to cater to the specific needs of those with acne problems. This is done without harsh chemicals that might irritate sensitive complexions.

The steps involved in these facials include:

  • Deep cleansing
  • Exfoliating
  • Masking
  • Extractions
  • Massages,
  • And the application of serums and moisturizers as needed.

After the facial, clients typically experience a refreshed feeling and a clearer complexion. While the massaging involved in the treatment may result in some redness, this usually disappears within 24 hours with no reported serious side effects. It is important to follow all instructions given by your esthetician beforehand.

What is an Esthetician’s Role in Treatments?

There is no doubt that the appearance of the skin is important. Whether you are attempting to look younger or feel better about yourself, having healthy skin is necessary. That is where estheticians come in. They are trained to improve the appearance and health of the skin using an array of treatments.

Facials can be used to treat various skin conditions such as acne, age spots, and blemishes. Therefore, it is important to consult with an esthetician before starting any treatment plan. Based on a person’s symptoms and needs, an esthetician will often recommend specific facial treatments. Furthermore, they will also be able to provide guidance on how to use various products for optimal results. By working with an experienced esthetician, you can improve not only your looks but also your health!

Types of Brightening Facials

A brightening facial is one type of facial specifically designed to lighten and brighten the skin and can be used for conditions such as sun damage, aging, or acne. It can also help achieve a more youthful look by reducing oiliness and improving wrinkles and skin tone. A variety of facials may be utilized to achieve the effects of a brightening facial.

The benefits of getting a brightening facial include:

  • Reduced signs of aging
  • Better complexion
  • Smoother skin texture and tone
  • Increased moisture levels
  • Decreased oiliness
  • Brighter-looking skin

Before getting a brightening facial, it’s important to ask the esthetician any questions you may have about the treatment plan and potential side effects. As all facials are not created equal. Be sure that you choose an option that will best suit your needs and skin tone.

Reasons to Get a Brightening Facial

From traditional facials to more advanced treatments like the Hydrafacial, each type of facial offers unique benefits. Whether you want to reduce the appearance of dark spots, even your skin tone, or achieve a more youthful overall look, investing in a brightening facial is an effective way to attain your desired results.

The most popular types of brightening facials include LED Therapy, microdermabrasion treatments, and hydra facials. Each one offers unique benefits and drawbacks. That’s why it’s so important to weigh your options before committing to any single treatment. LED therapy minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while microdermabrasion gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin for a softer look. Hydrafacials offer deep cleansing action that promotes a natural healthy glow by stimulating circulation while removing dirt and debris from the skin’s surface.

When choosing which type of facial is best for you, consider all factors, including:

  • Cost
  • Time commitment (some may require multiple sessions)
  • Recovery time (some may require downtime)
  • Any aftercare tips recommended by your professional facialist to maximize results. These might include avoiding direct sunlight or using certain products daily following treatment.

No matter which option you choose, getting regular brightening facials will help keep your skin looking fresh and radiant. These types of treatments can reduce dark spots on the face, even out skin tone, gently exfoliate, hydrate, and stimulate circulation for a more youthful look. In addition, they minimize fine lines and wrinkles and prevent further damage from environmental aggressors like pollution or sun exposure, helping promote an overall healthy glow.

Common Facial Types to Consider for a Brightening Facial

When it comes to brightening your skin and giving yourself a more youthful glow, there are many different types of facials to choose from. However, here, we are only going to touch on some of the most common, which are Hydrafacial, LED, and Microdermabrasion. Let’s take a close look at these three now.

Hydrafacial as a Brightening Facial

This all-in-one solution deeply cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, hydrates, and protects the skin in just one session. The treatment uses advanced technology to remove dead skin cells and impurities from pores while nourishing the skin with serums containing antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.

It also promotes cell growth and collagen production, reducing the appearance of dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. For best results, it is recommended that you undergo a Hydra facial once every four weeks.

LED Therapy Facial as a Brightening Facial

These facials use light to treat skin conditions in a variety of ways, from reducing the appearance of wrinkles and age spots to treating acne. LED therapy facials are not only beneficial for skin conditions, but they also promote overall skin health. With multiple types of LED therapy facials available, be sure to speak with your esthetician about what’s best for you.

LED therapy facials aren’t just beneficial; they’re also a refreshing change of pace. Who doesn’t love getting a facial that uses light? So whether you’re looking to brighten your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles or clear up acne, look no further than an LED therapy facial.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments can help you achieve a clearer, brighter complexion. This easy and gentle procedure exfoliates and removes dead skin cells, making it suitable for all skin types. The treatment is effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage. It improves overall skin texture and tone. Furthermore, they also minimize pore size, unclog pores, and reduce acne scars and blackheads. They are also ideal for those with busy schedules, as it has a short treatment time and minimal downtime. Benefits include:

  • Brighter complexion
  • Reduced fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage
  • Improved acne scarring
  • Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone
  • Stimulated collagen production
  • Long-lasting results.

Treatments can be tailored according to individual needs.

While these are not the only treatments recommended for brightening up your skin tone, they are some of the more common and easily accessible. If you have questions or concerns regarding your skin type and which facial would work best for you, reach out to a professional esthetician to find out more.

Benefits of Brightening Facials

Brightening facials can improve:

  • The overall appearance of your skin by reducing dark spots and discoloration
  • Even out our skin tone
  • Lighten age spots and sun spots
  • Improving complexion
  • Smooth out texture
  • Boost hydration
  • Stimulate collagen production, and revitalize dull skin.

Consider all factors when choosing a brightening facial that’s best suited for your individual needs. Be sure to follow proper aftercare instructions and always use SPF to protect your skin from sun exposure.

When to Get a Brightening Facial?

Generally speaking, people should consider getting one when:

  • Their skin is looking dull or uneven in tone
  • When they want to even out their complexion
  • Dark spots are becoming prominent
  • Notice that your skin could use some extra hydration
  • Your skin needs improvement of texture
  • Achieve a brighter appearance overall due to signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.

It’s also important to note that how often you should get these types of facials will depend on your individual needs – if you’re looking for more long-term results, then getting them once every few months may be better than having them done more frequently. But ultimately, speaking with a professional esthetician will help determine what’s best for you specifically!

Finally, it’s important that after getting any kind of facial treatment – especially one aimed at improving brightness – proper care must be taken in order for results to last longer! This includes avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours (usually between 10am-2pm), using sun protection products (such as SPF 30+ sunscreen), drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and avoiding overly harsh skincare products that could cause irritation and further damage to your delicate complexion cells over time!

Anti Aging Facials

Dermalogica Anti Aging Peel Perth

Anti-aging facials can help maintain or improve your skin’s appearance. They are designed to:

  • Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  • Increase collagen production
  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Protect from environmental damage.

There are many types of anti-aging facials to choose from, each with unique benefits.

Hydrating facials provide essential moisture to the skin and typically include ingredients like hyaluronic acid or aloe vera, which deeply hydrate the skin while providing anti-aging benefits.

Microdermabrasion facials exfoliate the skin and increase blood circulation, resulting in healthier skin over time. Tiny crystals or natural substances gently exfoliate away dead cells on the surface of the face. This leaves behind a brighter and healthier cells.

LED facials target deeper layers of the dermis using high-energy light to reduce wrinkles, stimulate collagen production, boost cell turnover, and yield a firmer, tighter, and youthful appearance.

Before getting any facial, it’s essential to consult with an experienced esthetician to ensure optimal results that are tailored specifically to your skin’s needs. Consider your goals: reducing wrinkles and fine lines, improving overall texture and tone, boosting cell turnover, or protecting from environmental damage.

What Ingredients are Used in Anti-Aging Facials

Anti-aging facials can reduce the signs of aging and improve your skin’s appearance. Various ingredients and techniques are used in different types of facials, so knowing your options help you choose the right one.

Hyaluronic acid facials hydrate and reduce wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, and other signs of aging, while vitamin C facials promote collagen production to restore elasticity and firmness.

Retinol facials decrease wrinkles and boost collagen production with Vitamin A derivatives.

LED light therapy<span style=”font-weight: 400;”> improves collagen production and cell renewal and improves your skin’s tone and texture

Before getting any facial, research what best suits your needs and consider consulting an experienced esthetician while taking into account any possible allergies or side effects.

Of course, many different facials use a combination of different serums, lotions, and other techniques to ensure a radiant look. When you are looking to turn back the clock, seeking a facial is one of the best, non-invasive ways to go about doing that. Not to mention they are very relaxing as well.

When to Start Anti-Aging Facials

As we age, our skin inevitably undergoes changes. While it is impossible to stop the aging process, there are ways to slow it down and minimize the visible signs of aging. Anti-aging facials are one such way. But when should you start getting them, and what types of treatments are available?

It is recommended that individuals in their mid-30s begin receiving anti-aging facials to prevent wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, and other signs of aging. The earlier you start receiving these treatments on a regular basis – such as every four to six weeks – the better chance you have of reversing or slowing down the visible effects of aging on your face.

When choosing an anti-aging facial treatment, it is important to ensure it is tailored to your skin type and condition. Consulting with a trusted professional can help ensure optimal results from your facial treatments.

Other Benefits of Anti-Aging Facials

Several types of cosmetic facials are available, offering different benefits beyond treating signs of aging on your face. Some may include hydrating masks or serums that can make your skin appear brighter. However, others may focus on deep cleansing or exfoliating techniques to remove dead cells from your complexion. This will promote cell turnover rate to reveal younger-looking skin beneath the surface. Additionally, when considering getting an anti-aging facial, it is important to consider factors such as cost, time commitment (most last approximately 45 minutes), and any potential side effects (such as redness) to understand what is involved before beginning any regimen.

Using cosmetic facials regularly, such as those used in treating wrinkles or fine lines, helps keep our faces looking youthful and vibrant, even into our later years. Anti-aging facial treatments should be started around the mid-30s to slow down the progression of wrinkles and other signs associated with advanced age and sun damage. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, consulting with a professional and understanding the costs associated with particular treatments will help you choose your best course of action.

Things to Consider Before Getting an Anti-Aging Facial

As we age, our skin may show signs of wear and tear. An anti-aging facial can combat the effects of aging on your skin. Several types of anti-aging facials are available, offering natural or cosmetic benefits. To prepare for an anti-aging facial, consider important factors before treatment.

Research the available types of anti-aging facials and their benefits and side effects. Common types include hydra facials, microdermabrasion, and light therapy treatments, to name a few. Determine which method best suits your individual needs.

Next, you’ll want to determine the cost associated with each type of treatment and budget accordingly. Ask about the downtime required after each session, as some treatments may require special care while others may not require any extra care at all. My facials have very little downtime, as they simply treat the skin’s surface.

Choose an experienced esthetician or facialist who knows how to provide anti-aging treatments and uses well-sanitized equipment. E sure that they are aware of any allergies or sensitivities you may have. Additionally, research the expected results of each type of treatment so you know which route is best for you!

Choose an Anti-Aging Facial That’s Right for You!

Anti-aging facials can help effectively reduce wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, and other signs of aging. To achieve a more youthful appearance, choosing the right facial with ingredients and techniques suitable for your skin type and desired outcome is essential. With the various anti-aging facials available, consulting with an experienced esthetician is advisable beforehand. They can guide you in the kind of facial that suits your specific needs, allergies, or potential side effects. Starting anti-aging facials in the mid-30s can help slow down the progression of wrinkles and other signs related to aging.

When looking for something to help boost your skin’s appearance, there are several factors to consider.  However, anti-aging facials are one of the easiest ways to give yourself the boost you have been longing for.

Types of Acne Facials

Medik8 Deep Hydration Facial Perth - Remove Mask and Massage

Acne is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages and genders. It can be caused by various factors such as:

  • Hormones
  • Genetics
  • Lifestyle choices
  • Medical conditions

Facials can be one of the most effective treatments to fight acne breakouts as they help reduce the causes of acne. Furthermore, they can help keep the skin healthy and vibrant. They work by removing excess oil and dirt from the pores. This is what can lead to future breakouts. Acne facials also have ingredients that soothe inflammation while reducing bacteria buildup on the skin’s surface.

When selecting an acne facial, it’s crucial to consider the products used to ensure they don’t irritate the skin or worsen existing acne. Ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide are commonly used in these treatments. This is because they help kill bacteria while breaking down excess oil on the skin’s surface.

Cleansers containing glycolic acid may also be useful for oily or dry skin as they clarify pores and help them heal faster after a breakout has occurred. Furthermore, Jojoba oil or other non-comedogenic products can provide necessary hydration without clogging pores, which is vital for sensitive or combination skin prone to breakouts.

Suggestions for Homecare

Remember that regular facials are only part of proper skin care.   It’s vital that an individualized deep cleansing routine at home is essential to maximize results over time.

Non-comedogenic products designed for oily or sensitive skin should be used. These include lotions, creams, and cleansers to prevent clogged pores. It’s better to use a few basic products like a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer suited to individual needs rather than too many different products at once.

Oily skin types should generally get facials every 4-6 weeks, whereas those with dry skin could benefit from more frequent visits every 2-3 weeks, depending on the severity of the specific case(s).

Types of Facials Best For Acne Prone Skin

Clarifying facial, which regulates sebum production. It reduces the appearance of breakouts by targeting excess oil production in the pores. It also reduces bacteria on the surface of the skin.

Collagen facials help treat acne scars by introducing collagen into skin cells, promoting healing, and smoothing out depressions caused by scarring or uneven tone.

Deep pore cleansers remove blackheads and whiteheads from deep within pores and unclog them. This is ideal for removing impurities from the face and reducing future breakouts.

Probiotic facials restore friendly bacteria and balance to the complexion, fighting off harmful bacteria while restoring moisture and hydration.

Hyaluronic Acid facials lock moisture into cells while preventing dirt, debris, and oils from clogging up pores, providing hydration without exacerbating existing breakouts.

Exfoliating Facials remove dead skin cells, dirt, debris, and oils that accumulate over time. This offers an extra layer of protection against future blemishes while stimulating cell turnover for clearer and brighter complexions.

Deep Cleanse Facial treatments unclog pores using deep cleansing products to improve circulation and result in brighter, more radiant complexions.

Microdermabrasion facial treatments<span style=”font-weight: 400;”> gently exfoliate away dull surface layers to leave skin refreshed, best done once a month.

Oxygen facial treatments introduce oxygen back into the skin’s surface to kill off remaining bacteria, causing ongoing breakouts without harsh chemicals and increasing circulation to flush out toxins faster.

Peel facial treatments use natural ingredients and targeted acids to provide relief for inflamed pimples but should only be done twice a year to avoid damaging delicate tissue around affected areas.

LED light therapy face treatments can help reduce inflammation and bacteria, promoting healing and healthy skin.

Of course, you can use these treatments as stand-alone treatments, but any combination can be good as well. Be sure that you reach out to your trusted esthetician to ensure that you get the best treatment for your particular situation.

What to Expect from a Facial

When selecting a facial treatment plan for yourself or someone else who has oily or combination skin (which often causes more severe breakouts), some steps must be taken beforehand to ensure optimal results.

First, be sure that all makeup is removed prior to beginning any treatment so as not to cause further irritation during application. You should start any facial with clean, dry skin for the best results.

Once you have had your facial, you will need to apply sunscreen since many products used during this process may increase sensitivity toward sunlight exposure. This will help protect against sunburns or other damage caused by UV rays.

Furthermore, it’s important not only during but also after each session to maintain a clear, healthy-looking complexion between treatments through regular cleansing. You should always wash your face twice daily using mild soap, followed up with moisturizing lotion appropriate for your skin’s needs. This will help keep oil at bay. If you wash without applying proper hydration, you could increase the oil production in your skin. This is why it’s important to ensure that you are moisturizing when washing your face.

Additionally, you need to follow the aftercare instructions for your particular facial. Some facials will have very little to no need for follow-up care. However, most will require you to avoid the sun for a few days and to take good care of your skin while it heals.

How Often Should You Get a Facial for Oily Skin?

Generally speaking, it is recommended that those with very dry or sensitive skin get facials every 4-6 weeks, while those with normal/oily combo skin can usually wait 8-10 weeks between treatments. It will depend on lifestyle factors such as stress levels and diet habits since these can influence how quickly our bodies produce new oils leading us prone to develop clogged pores again faster than usual.

It is also important not to forget basic facial care like washing your face regularly (at least twice daily), making sure you choose non-comedogenic cleansers/moisturizers so they won’t clog up your pores, plus wearing sunscreen daily.

After having a professional treatment done, make sure to follow all post-facial care tips provided by your esthetician, plus keep up a consistent skincare routine at home to maintain a clear, healthy complexion!

Facials can be an excellent way to treat and prevent acne breakouts. However, the most important thing is to keep up with regular skincare routines at home and get facials regularly to maintain clear and healthy skin.

Reasons to Treat Yourself to a Facial Regularly

Reasons to Treat Yourself to a Facial Regularly

We all want to look and feel our best, and having a regular skincare routine is key to achieving this goal. However, sometimes it can be challenging to keep up with all the steps in your schedule. This is where professional facials come in. They provide deep cleansing of the pores and help improve the look of your skin and maximize the effectiveness of your daily skincare products.

Regular facials help brighten your complexion and even out your skin tone while deeply cleansing your pores. This improves the absorption of nutrients from serums or creams applied afterward. Additionally, having regular facials can help:

The Benefits of Treating Yourself to a Facial

Treating yourself to a facial can have many benefits, from improving your skin’s appearance and texture to promoting healthy relaxation. A facial can help remove impurities, prevent aging, maximize your skincare routine, and improve skin tone. These are just some of the many reasons why you should treat yourself to a facial regularly.

Facials improve skin appearance and texture by helping with acne, wrinkles, blemishes, and blackheads. They enhance the absorption of other skincare products and increase circulation within the skin, rejuvenating the outer layers for smoother-looking skin.

Facials offer cosmetic benefits too. They can also provide deep relaxation that relaxes both body and mind. Facials help improve circulation throughout the face, reducing puffiness and exfoliating away dead cells while brightening the complexion. They are also known to release tension from facial muscles. This leads to a more youthful appearance while increasing collagen production for firmer-looking skin.

Furthermore, they promote healthy cell production, improving overall tone, deep cleansing, and hydration. This allows other skincare products to deliver essential nutrition for refreshed-looking energy in your face more effectively! Treating yourself to a regular facial is one of the best ways to take care of your body – so make sure you make time for it!

Let’s take a look at other reasons you might want to consider getting a professional facial regularly.

Removes Impurities

Exfoliation brings out newer, healthier skin cells for a brighter complexion while removing impurities, unclogging pores, removing dirt and debris, and reducing the appearance of acne. Deep cleansing helps remove environmental pollutants that accumulate on our faces.

Facials not only improve complexion and promote healthy relaxation but also prevent aging by reducing wrinkles and fine lines over time. They do this while ensuring excess oil is balanced out, and any impurities are removed. So take some time out for self-care and give yourself the gift of an amazing facial – you deserve it!

Prevents Aging

Facials are a great way to relax and pamper yourself while also helping your skin look and feel its best. Regular facials can help prevent premature aging of the skin by:

  • Exfoliating
  • Cleansing
  • Moisturizing
  • Targeting blemishes
  • Unclogging pores
  • Improving the overall appearance of the complexion.

Promotes Healthy Relaxation

In addition to all these amazing benefits for your physical appearance, facials also have incredible mental benefits as well! Taking time out for yourself can help reduce stress and anxiety while improving confidence in your appearance. Facial treatments also encourage self-care practices such as taking more breaks during workdays or allowing more time for personal wellness activities like yoga or meditation – all of which contribute positively towards healthy relaxation!

Self-care is often something that we forget or push along for another dayOurur busy lifestyle makes it’s easy to give up that little piece of time you set aside for yourself. However, this time is very important. It fills up your cup, so you have more to give your loved ones.

Treating yourself regularly with a facial treatment will maximize your skincare routine while rejuvenating your complexion with deep cleansing techniques that leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed – mentally and physically!

Maximizes Your Daily Skincare Routine

Having a proper skincare routine is very important. However, it’s not going to give you the many benefits that you see from a facial. While we clean, exfoliate and take care of our skin at home, there is nothing like the pampering your skin gets from a facial. Having someone else massage your face with the proper nutrients and exfoliate your skin will leave it better than you could ever do on your own. Not to mention that it will be more susceptible to absorbing the nutrients found in your at-home skin care products. This is how regular facials can help maximize your skincare routine, as it will open up your pores, which will allow for better absorption and help clear up your skin.

If you are still on the fence about getting a regular facial, we would suggest setting some up according to your skin type and seeing what a difference it will make in just a few sessions!

Take Time to Set Up Regular Facials to See the Benefits for Yourself.

Regular facials are a great way to pamper yourself and give your skin the attention it deserves. The Best at Home Skin Care Routine

The Best at Home Skin Care Routine

If you have ever browsed the skincare aisle at your local store, you probably have been a bit overwhelmed. There are seems, lotions, and potions for just about everything. Not to mention those things all promise amazing results.  But what exactly do you need?  What should you spend your hard-earned money on, and what should you leave to gather dust on the shelves?

It’s important that when you are looking for skin care products, you first understand what type of skin conditions and type you have.  There are so many combinations, from dry to oil and everything in between.  In fact, you can even have two different types of conditions on the same face.  What?  Yes, it’s true.  In fact, most of us have combination skin, as they call it.  Where the skin is oily in some places and dry in others.  Just to ensure you are completely confused about what to do.

But there is hope.  Most skincare products offer a list of ingredients on the back of the packaging. These ingredients will help you narrow down what you are looking for.  Sure, you can read the front of the package but then flip it over to find out the truth.  Let’s take a look at some now.

For Oily Skin, Look for…

If you have oily skin, you should look for ingredients in your cleaners and lotions such as:

  • Retinol
  • Niacinamide
  • Salicylic acid
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Clay
  • Lemongrass
  • Spearmint

Meanwhile, you should avoid Occlusive moisturizers, which are moisturizers that trap moisture in the skin.  Also, avoid any alcohol-based products.  While alcohol removes oil temporarily, it can cause issues later on due to the harsh stripping of the oil.  Harsh exfoliants are another thing that people with oily skin should avoid, as it strips the oil from the surface of the skin. This can lead to overproduction of oil.

Always follow up your cleansing routine with a nice moisturizer designed for those with oily skin to ensure you don’t clog your pores.

Of course, you should also look at having a professional facial done every 4-6 weeks.  This ensures that you have your skin under control and prevents further breakouts.

For Dry Skin, Look For…

Dry skin needs different types of products, as you might expect.  You should stay away from Salicylic acid, alcohol, and benzoyl peroxide.  However, you should use Hyaluronic acid or Polyglutamic acid, Glycerin, Ceramides, and Shea Butter. These will all help moisturize the skin to give it a healthy glow.  Of course, you should wash your face regularly with moisturizing fash wash and hydrate by drinking plenty of water.  Those with dry skin should have more frequent estitician visits every 2-3 weeks.

Once you have proper products with proper ingredients, you should get into a routine of using them.  Once in the morning and once in the evening is the common routine.  However, there are some products that you shouldn’t use that often.  Be sure that you read and follow the directions on the packaging so that you don’t cause more issues.

Detemrining Your Skin Type

Alright, so it’s all great that you now know some of the ingredients you should be looking for, but what if you don’t know your skin type?  You can do a few things to determine your skin type. Remember, your skin could be a combination of oily and dry.  In that case, you should treat the areas as such, meaning use products for oily skin on the areas that are oily and for dry skin on the areas that are dry.  Let’s take a look at ways to decide.

Normal skin will have a good balance of oil. This means that you won’t have a dry, tight feeling and don’t seem to have the excessive oil that oily skin has. Not all oily skin has acne issues. This will depend on various factors such as hormones, diet, proper skincare, and more.  So, that shouldn’t be a determining factor.  In fact, people with dry skin can also have acne issues.  Dry will always feel tight and in need of lotion, and oily will always tend to have a shine to it.

Combination skin is very common, mostly oily in the “T zone,” which is the area across the forehead and down the nose, while the rest of your skin could be normal to dry.

Sensitive skin gets irritated easily or often by products, the sun, wind, etc.  Basically, for a variety of reasons. If you have sensitive skin, it may be some trial and error to determine which products will work best for your situation. It is recommended that you only start with one product. This will allow you to narrow down the issues more quickly.  This goes for when you have a professional facial done as well.

Getting Professional Facial

Once you have set up your daily routine, found the right products, and have things underway, you’ll then want to start getting professional facials done for those problem areas, you know, the ones, we all have them.

You’ll want to decide what type of problems you have and how you’d like to address them, as there are many different types of solutions out there.  Here’s some examples:

Hyperpigmentation/Brightening-Brightening facials can assist with areas of concern with pigmentation issues. If you are ready to get rid of that redness and smooth out those freckles and dark spots,s then you need to look at getting a brightening facial.  There are different types available for the different skin types.  Be sure that your esthetician chooses something that matches your skin’s conditions.

Clearing up Acne-Acne is a constant battle for some people. However, there are ways to clear it up.  Facials are one of the better ways to go about doing this.  They can deep clean, cleanse and provide the needed moisture with antibacterial properties to ensure your skin looks amazing.

Anti-aging-As we age, our skin will start to wrinkle, and crepe lines will start to appear.  These lines and wrinkles are something that is a main focus for many professional estheticians.  Various treatments can be utilized to accomplish anti-aging and, in many cases, assist with acne and brightening at the same time.

The role of stress in skin health and how to manage it

Stressed Skin Perth

The role of stress in skin health and how to manage it

We have all heard the effect that stress has on our body, both physically and mentally. But have you ever given consideration how it effects your skin? occasional break outs can be put down to our life stresses and aren’t actually anything that you’r actually doing to your skin or putting on your skin. We look at how your skin is effected by stress, the reason why and how you can attempt to reduce your stress levels for more reliable glowing skin.

Understanding the connection between stress and skin problems

We all experience stress in our lives and we all deal with stress differently. Infact we all have our own stress ceiling where we are rather comfortable until we reach that amount of stress. Unfortunately there is no way of telling what our stress ceiling is, so it’s best for our health and our skin to maintain our stress with things we enjoy in life. This could be a relaxing walk, a massage or a facial. It might also include talking to someone and allowing them to help with your stress. When our bodies get a larger than normal amount of stress we experience a hormone called cortisol. While cortisol is important for a healthy functioning body if high levels or stress are reached an increase of cortisol is released and this reduces our skins immune system which means trouble for our skin.

The impact of stress hormones on skin health

Hi levels of stress can result in our immune system creating inflammation as a result of the stress. This inflammation can increase skin sensitivity, increase oil production that results in acne or increase in acne and skin concerns such as rosacea to increase. Excess stress can also have an impact on our lifestyle and habits. It might mean decreased exercise which keeps our body fresh and blood pumping. Increase in alcohol or other drugs which have a major effect on our skin and can also increase stress levels long term. It can even result in skin reactions such as histamine reactions that you normally don’t experience at other times.

The importance of self-care in managing stress and skin health

It is essential to manage stress for your health and your skin. taking time out for yourself allows you to even see stressful issues in a different light and might reduce the stress at the source level. So what can be done to manage stress?

One important one is getting enough sleep. Sleep is important to help your rejuvenate and prepare your body for the next day. An interesting fact is that sleep is also when our memories get stored so issues that involve remembering certain things can benefit immensely from enough sleep.

When you dont have enough sleep you look tired and worne out, your skin around your eyes are generally darker and your face as a whole drops. Not getting enough sleep can results in acne, dullness and fine lines.

As mentioned above exercise is important, one of my big go to hobbies when I am stressed is going for a walk, not only does the exercise help your blood circulate but it also allows your brain to rest and focus on the surroundings. This can often result in resolutions for your concerns.

Exercise also helps your skin get enough oxygen from your blood pumping and help carry away toxins from the environment.

Another great option is booking in for a facial. The facial can help you meditate and take your mind off things just long enough for you to figure out the solution. It will also help your skin look optimum so you will instantly have 1 less thing to worry about.

The Benefits of Regular Facials: How They Improve Your Skin

The Benefits of Regular Facials: How They Improve Your Skin

We get a lot of Perth customers through our doors for facial treatments. Some we see regularly and some we see only once every now and again. If you would like to find out the best way to get the most out of your facials and how regular your facials should be then we will go through some interesting skin facts. We will fill you in on a few secrets that you might not know.

While a facial every now and again is amazing to destress and have a break to yourself its important to know when the transition between relaxing facial and beneficial facial happens. When getting the most out of a facial its important to focus on two factors. One is what products are used in a facial and how it is performed. The second is the regularity of the facial. We have covered how to get the most out of your facial in another article so I will focus on the regularity of your facials.

Frequency of Facials: How Often Should You Get Them?

One of the biggest questions is how often you should get a facial treatment. Facials and skin treatments are generally categorized based on your skins recovery time. While something like skin needling might be a once a month to once every 3 months treatment because of how invasive it is. Something like a chemical peel would be perfect every month. An enzyme peel or more nourishing facial can be done as regular as ever 2 weeks. This is great if your looking towards getting maximum benefits in a small amount of time. You can add a skin needling session ever 2 months to your nourishing facials every few weeks and you will start noticing benefits in no time.

Skin Cell Turnover

When considering how regular you would like to get facials it is also important to take into account your skin cells turnover. Healthy skin renews every 28 to 30 days so getting a treatment every month is generally a great guideline. When growing older or if we have very oily skin you might notice that your skin turns over slower which can create concerns. Having a chemical peel or enzyme peel every month can insure the dead skin is sloughed off and keep you looking amazing!

The 28 to 30 days is also good to take into account when you get a more advanced treatment and are wondering why you havnt seen any results yet. Remember that the majority of what you do now will generally show in 28 days when your new skin has been revealed.

Time doesn’t stop so neither should your facials. Remember to get enough facials to counteract the time that is passing. One way to do this is to start off with skin treatment and facials in your late teens or 20s so that you skin has less chance of showing signs of aging, but another way is to make sure that your facials are regular enough.

Will Less Regular Facials Still Be Beneficial?

Even if you are unable to do regular facials the facials that you get will have benefits. But don’t expect to look 10 years younger from a treatment a few times a year. You can slow down the signs of ageing, increase hydration and have a regular relax by doing facials a few times a year.

A better option for clients who are on a very tight budget is considering working with our team to create a skincare routine for you. Skincare can be applied daily with less cost than facials, this will give you great benefits on its own. Although you won’t see as great benefits as combining treatments and skincare.

Getting skin needling 3 or 4 times a year is a great way to keep your skin looking and feeling younger. The treatment will stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis. The fact that there is a large downtime will actually take advantage of the fact your budget only allows for a few treatments a year.

Long-Term Results: The Benefits of Regular Facial Treatments

Long term results can only be seen from regular treatments. Imagine if you just went to the gym once or twice a year. Time would catch up with you over the space between going to the gym and you wouldn’t see many benefits. Now imagine going to the gym every week. The weekly gym sessions would build up and you would see some great benefits. This is exactly the same as your skin and getting skin treatments. Time doesn’t stop so neither should your facial treatments. The long-term benefits from getting skin treatments is an array of benefits. These include: reduced pigmentation, hydrated skin, skin looking and feeling younger and many others. This is dependent on the treatments you do which is why working with a reputable salon such as Bare Skin and Beauty is so important. As you go through your journey we will point out treatments that we feel will give you the best benefits.

Consistency is Key: Why Regular Facials Are Worth It

Like most things consistency is the key. Theres no point having 10 treatments all spaced 2 weeks apart and then not having any treatments for the rest of the year. You are better off spacing those 10 treatments throughout the year. Even better have 10 treatments close together to get your skin to a great start. Then book a treatment every month after that to maintain your skin. Speak to our Skin Therapists to find out the best frequency for your treatments.

Investing in Your Skin: The Long-Term Benefits of Regular Facials

I always remember how maintaining your skin was explained to me. Imagine you have a bridge and you leave that bridge to deteriorate until it collapses. Thats similar to what our skin is doing when we form a deep wrinkle. Now imagine how hard it would be to build that bridge again from scratch. Thats what your doing when your booking in regular treatments with us. We are slowly building the bridge of elastin and collagen back up to remove imperfections. Now imagine you had a bridge and every few months you sent maintenance people out to repair it. That bridge would stay up until you stopped sending the maintenance people out. Thats what happens when you continue with maintenance treatments. The long-term benefits of getting regular maintenance facial treatments outweigh the short term benefits. Its so important to invest in your skin because in the long term it will pay off.

Preventive Skincare: Combining Skincare and Treatments

At the end of the day we cant follow you home and cleanse your face for you each night. Making sure you have a strong skincare routine and are sticking to that routine will work hand in hand with the treatments and advice that you receive at the salon.

Frosty Beauty: Nurturing Winter Skin in Perth’s Chilly Months

If you live in Perth then you would have noticed over the past few weeks that the weather has changed from beautiful Perth summer days to cold and rainy weather. It is officially the lead up to winter and your skin is about to change from summer skin to winter skin. This brings with it different concerns and means you need to maintain your skin differently. This also means that its officially the time of year for all those more advanced treatments that had a higher risk in the summer such as chemical peels, plasma fibre blast and Cosmelan peels. We will break down how to look after your winter skin, assessing your skincare for the winter months and how to prepare for the more advanced treatments such as Cosmelan peels.

Combatting Winter Skin Woes: Tips for Perth’s Cold Season

Winter in Perth can wreak havoc on your skin. We have some tips on how to minimise the damage and keep your glowing skin year round. As the weather turns chilly many people in Perth may experience common winter skin which include dryness, flakiness, itchiness, and dullness. But dont stress because the right skincare routine and some simple tips can combat your winter skin issues and keep your skin healthy and glowing all season long.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: You would think that in winter the last thing you need to do is stay hydrated because there is so much more rain but keeping your skin hydrated is crucial for healthy skin regardless of the season. In winter the air tends to be drier than in summer which can result in dry and cracked skin, lips and eyes. Making sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day will keep your skin hydrated from within. You can also look at options such as adding a humidifier to your office or home which can add mositure back into the air.

Skincare Tips For Winter In Perth

Moisturize Regularly: Another form of hydration is to moisturise with a good qaulity moisturiser such as Medik8 Ultimate Recovery  or O Cosmedics Comfort Cream. Good quality moisturisers are high in emollients which help lock in the moisture in your skin and reduce Transepidermal Water Lose (TEWL).

Exfoliate Gently: Exfoliating regularly is important however during the winter months its important to be a bit more sensitive with your skin. choose a gentle exfoliator such as Medik8 Pore Refining Scrub or dermalogica Daily Milkfoliant. These will help to unclog pores without being to harsh on your skin and allowing the winter dry air to create havoc.

Ensure a minimum of SPF30 is applied every few hours that your outside will protect your skin from the hardh Perth sun and also ensure you dont fall victim to premature aging from sun exposure.

Take Lukewarm Showers: Avoid super hot showers in winter, while it might feel comforting, hot showers can leave your skin feeling dryer.

A Winter Skincare Secrets for Perth’s Frosty Weather

If your looking for to get your skin glowing this winter we have the perfect secret for you. Add a facial oil to your skincare routine if your not already using one. Perth Water Woes: The Effects of Mineral Buildup on Your Skin

Perth Skincare For Hard Water

Perth Water Woes: The Effects of Mineral Buildup on Your Skin

If you have live in Perth there is no doubt that you have had a shower and thought to yourself “why does my skin feel so dry after”. While living in Perth is amazing, it comes with some downsides and one of those downsides is hard water.

Perth’s tap water is known for its hardness. When looking at the water hardness scale in Perth it ranges from 100-250 parts per million (ppm). This is considered to be moderately to very hard water.

Hard water means that it contains high levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium. These can lead to a variety of issues especially for our skin and hair. Hard water can cause skin irritation and dryness which makes maintaining hydrated and healthy skin difficult.

The reason Perth water supply is so hard is because it comes from an aquifer and although it is treated to remove harmful contaminants it is not treated to remove the minerals.

The Science of Hard Water: Understanding its Impact on Skin

The minerals in hard water can strip the skin of its natural oils which leaves your skin vulnerable and damaged and feeling itchy, dry, sensitive and even flaky. When it has striped your skins natural oils it can form a film on your skin which clogs pores and can create breakouts.

hard water can also disrupt your skins natural pH which is noramally around 5.5 because the pH of hard water is more alkaline than the skin which results in sensitive skin and can increase skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

In addition to reactions with your skin the minerals in hard water can react with the ingredients in your skincare products. This makes them less effective and can lead to a buildup of dead skin cells and impurities. This can result in clogged pores and lead to breakouts.

Dry and Itchy: How Hard Water Can Strip Your Skin of Moisture

If your skin feels dry and itchy even though your getting regular facials and using skincare, this could be related to hard water. Hard water can have a pH of over 8.5! while your skin sits at a pH of around 5.5. This alone makes things hard for your skin but hard water can also remove your natural oils that protect your skin and lock in moisture. This is often called Trans Epidermal Water Lose (TEWL). Leaving your skin bare of natural oils, your skin is more susceptible to evaporation and dehydration. which can lead to dry and itchy skin.

If you are feeling dry and itchy from hard water one of the best solutions is to reassess your skincare and your skincare routine. By adding more emollients (oils) to your skincare routine you can replace the oils lost from using hard water. This is especially effective when you apply your skincare after showering.

The Hidden Culprit: How Hard Water Can Worsen Skin Conditions

Hard water can worsen skin conditions in several ways.

  1. The minerals present in hard water can irritate the skin which leads to dryness, itching, and redness. This can create havoc for people that already suffer from concerns such as psoriasis and eczema.
  2. High pH of hard water can disrupt our skins natural pH balance. This can weaken our skins natural protective barrier and make our skin more susceptible to damage from environmental factors such as pollution and UV rays.
  3. Minerals in hard water can clog pores and lead to acne and other skin problems. This is bad news for people that suffer from acne since it can make acne worse.
  4. The buildup of minerals on your skin’s surface can reduce how skincare products penetrate. This makes skincare less effective but can be remedied by using quality skincare products.

Battling Breakouts: How Hard Water Can Aggravate Acne

If you are already struggling with acne skin then having hard water can make it that much more difficult. Water with a high amount of minerals can clog your skins pores which results in acne.

Your pores contain a oil producing gland that is called a sebaceous gland. This creates oil or sebum. When the pore becomes clogged the sebum builds up and forms a whitehead of black head.

To prevent acne it is important to keep your pores clean and clear and washing your face is generally considered a great way to keep them clear, however when you have hard water it might not be as beneficial. To remedy this its important to using a good quality cleanser and regularly cleanse night and day.

Aging Accelerator: How Hard Water Can Contribute to Premature Aging

One of the biggest factors of aging skin is hydration, we have already covered how hard water can dehydrate your skin so it is important to understand that dehydrated skin doesn’t only react by being sensitive, flaky and sensitive but it can also results in premature aging.

The Cleansing Conundrum: How Hard Water Affects the Performance of Your Skincare Products

Skincare products can also be effected by hard water, mainly cleansers. Cleansers contain surfactants which effectively clean your skin. It does this my grabbing hold of the dirt and oil and suspending it in the water that is washed away. When hard water is combined with a surfactant the surfactant uses a large majority of its power to suspend the minerals in the hard water. This results in a less productive cleanse. Choosing a good quality cleanser for your skincare routine will reduce this reaction and give you noticeably cleaner and clearer skin.

The Cost of Hard Water: How to Protect Your Skin

On average people shower once or twice a day and only have facials every few weeks. There is a big gap between the amount of time spent showering and amount of time having facials. Obviously it is not convenient to have facials every few days so you are left making up the difference with a good skincare routine. This can result in extra costs but you will see better results from the quality skincare because not only will it help towards the effect of hard water but will also come with added actives to accelerate your skin goals.

Microdermabrasion

Is Microdermabrasion Right for You? A Guide to Glowing Skin

One of the most popular Facial treatments in Perth is Microdermabrasion, but is it right for you? We are always getting clients coming in looking for a microdermabrasion, we ask them why they specifically want a microdermabrasion and the answer is generally the same. They want a microdermabrasion because their friend had one or they have seen it advertised.

The fact is Microdermabrasion’s aren’t right for everyone. In fact there is only a few skin types that will truly benefit from them. In most cases a different facial treatment would be a much better solution for the majority of clients. Skin savy clients looking for glowing skin. We go through some of the commonly asked questions aswell as help you assess if a microdermabrasion is what your looking for and if all else fails you can always book in with one of our friendly skin therapists and get a personalised skin consultation and recommendations.

Understanding Micro’s: What You Need to Know

It is important to understand what a microdermabrasion is. A treatment largely targeted towards deep exfoliation. A hand piece is moved over your face that has tiny diamonds attached to it. These diamonds lift away dead or dying skin cells. This is mechanical exfoliation so is different to chemical exfoliation which uses acids or enzymes to break down the surface of your skin to reveal the new glowing skin surface. The diamonds are abrasive and scratch against the skin. The middle of the hand piece has a hole that is attached to a vacuum where all the debris is pulled towards and collected in a filter. This is generally combined with cleansing and a mask to finish to infuse actives into the skin.

This exfoliation is great to get into the pores of the skin and suck out imperfections and also for deep exfoliation of the skin for people who suffer from slow cell turnover.

The Benefits of Microdermabrasion: Is it Worth It?

When considering the benefits of microdermabrasion its important to take into account that not everyone will see these benefits and it is based around your skin type but we will cover this later in the blog.

One of the biggest benefits of microdermabrasion is its ability to exfoliate the skin. The skin treatment helps to remove the top layer of dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reveal fresher, healthier skin. The exfoliation process results in improved skin texture, reduced roughness, and a smoother complexion.

While some clinics push microdermabrasion for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging, these benefits are generally due to the added extras such as masks and LED light therapy so its important that when you book a microdermabrasion that you book in these extras if your looking for more than just exfoliation and deep cleansing.

Another benefit from microdermabrasion is that it can be added on to most other facial treatments. This excludes more advanced treatments like skin needling and higher concentration chemical peels.

There is almost no down time with microdermabrasion with most clients not even being red after leaving the clinic, this makes it a perfect lunchtime or pre party skin treatment.

Another benefit of microdermabrasion is its versatility. It is performed on various skin types, including sensitive skin, and can be customized to meet individual skincare needs.

Who is Microdermabrasion For? Finding Your Skin Type Match

Bare Skin and Beauty located in Ellenbrook, Perth can help you find out your skin type with our advanced imaging skin consultations. When going into a treatment for the first time you should be know what to expect. It can be a little disappointing if your wanting a microdermabrasion and are prepared for it, to be told the your not a suitable skin type and a better option would be another facial.

Dry and sensitive skin is the biggest contraindicator, if you have dry skin then this treatment is not for you. Choose something like a hydrating facial enriched with hydrating actives.

If you have oily or normal skin and suffer from black heads, congestion and acne and a slower skin cell turn over then this treatment is a great option for you.

Microdermabrasion vs. Other Skin Treatments: Is it the Right Choice?

So we have decided that you have the type of skin that would benefit from microdermabrasion but what about other skin treatments suitable for your skin type?

There are many facials and skin treatments targeted to oily and congested skin. So how do you know that a micro is the best one to go for? microdermabrasion exfoliates without harsh acids or enzymes. They can suck out congestion and dirt from your pores like no other treatment can. This is a great skin treatment for getting into facials, maybe your starting on a good skin journey. Or want a change from your standard facial then micros can be a great choice. Use this treatment along side Medik8 and O Cosmedics enzyme peels to make a great treatment regime. Our highly trained skin therapists in Perth can help you put on together and get your skin looking and feeling amazing.

Glow Up: Maximizing the Results of Your Facial

Facial treatments are a very important aspect of your beauty regime. Its important that you get regular facials because its not only good for your skin but also for your soul. It allows you to relax and take some time out from your busy day to day life. Whether you get a facial every few weeks or every 6 months, there are a few tips that can help with the results from your facial.

Understanding Your Skin: Knowing Your Skin Type and Concerns

The very first step to better results from facials is knowing your skin type and what you want to achieve. It is pointless going for a hydrating facial if you have oil and congested skin because it is most likely going to make your skin worse or do nothing.

Bare Skin and Beauty is located in Ellenbrook, Perth and can help you understand your skin type and recommend skincare and facials to work towards your concerns.

Consultations are carried out in our boutique salon in Ellenbrook, Perth. Using advanced imaging techniques we look beneath the skins surface and provide a full overview of your skins oil flow, underlying pigmentation and even predict concerns you might face during your good skin journey or in the future.

Pre-Facial Prep: How to Prepare Your Skin for Maximum Results

Achieving the best results from your facial starts with proper preparation. The first step is our skin consultation so we have a complete understanding of your skin. But there are also things that you can do prior to a facial to get the most out of it.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Prior to getting a facial it is important to keep in mind how much sun your are exposed to. If your mildly sunburnt your skin might be sensitive and make the facial less enjoyable but if you have more sever sun burning your therapist might even have to turn you away and book you for when your sun burn has gone down.

Hydrate: It is always important to keep hydrated but even more important when getting facials or massage. Your skin will love you for the extra hydration and your skin will be more receptive to treatments and can better absorb the active ingredients in facial products. This is due to your blood being able to flow properly and your body working the way it should. Hydration is one of the most important factors for our overall health.

Avoid Harsh Skincare Products: Prior to your facial its important not to do any home peels or use any harsh chemicals that might compromise your skin prior to your treatment. This also includes consulting with your therapist about any topical or oral medication you might be on because this can make you unsuitable for some treatments. If you are considering stopping medication please consult your doctor prior.

Communicate With Your Therapist During and After Your Facial

Communicate with Your Therapist: While we can see your skin we dont know whats going on behind the scenes and when we dont see you for a few weeks. Give us a hand and let us know how your skins feeling and if you have had any reactions, breakouts etc. Help us help you. Its also important that if you have any negative results from the facial to let us know because this could be a reaction or irritation from a product that we might need to avoid in the future. Unhappy with your treatment? also let us know, we can’t grow and learn unless you tell us what you liked and didnt like. If you say nothing, we assume then everything went smoothly 🙂 and even better, if you enjoyed your treatment leave us a review. The therapists love seeing that their hard work is appreciated.

Arrive with Clean Skin: On the day of your facial, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin (when possible). We would prefer to be focusing on creating a great experience for you and doing activities that your skin will love instead of spending half the time removing makeup. While we are happy to do this, you wont get the full benefits from the treatment.

Be Well-Rested: Its amazing how much your skin will respond to a good nights sleep. Wake up bright eyed ready to enjoy your facial.

Follow Post-Facial Instructions: Lastly, make sure you follow our aftercare instructions. Depending on how intense the treatment was this can be a necessity to your results and safety.

Customized Facial Treatments: Choosing the Right Facial for Your Skin

Choosing the right facial for your is essential for great results. Start with a skin consultation to find out your skin type, think about your concerns and your goals. Chat to our therapists about your goals and get a treatment regime put in place. Work towards your goals.

This is the path towards great results from your skin treatments. It is all pointless if your getting the wrong treatments. The products and techniques are different for all treatments. While we might incorporate a Vitamin C or licorice extract in a brightening and lightening facial that is targeted towards pigmentation we will be using hyaluronic acid in a hydration facial and then exfoliating acids for acne treatments so getting the right facial is crucial.

Another important factor is where you get your treatments. There are countless beauty salons in Perth. Its important to understand that some beauty salons are mainly beauty. Their treatments are for relaxation and they are not targeted to provide results. At Bare Skin and Beauty we offer skin treatments which are incorporated into a relaxing treatment. We use cosmeceutical ranges and all our therapists have to sit through weeks of training each year to keep up with the science behind skin and skincare products. Choosing the right salon is as important as choosing the right treatment.

Targeted Skincare Products: Using the Best Products for Your Skin Needs

When you walk down the supermarket aisle you will notice there is a LOT of different skincare ranges and products. Each one might say a different bonus or reason for purchasing it. It is important to understand that anything purchased from your supermarket is likely to be inadequate to get results other than to provide basic hydration and make you feel a bit pampered.

Supermarket brands are designed to be affordable. This means that they add things that look exciting or like they would provide a benefit but they are generally in such small amounts that they will do little to nothing. Active ingredients are expensive! As a cosmetic chemist I have formulated cheap ranges and I have formulated active ranges. The cost to add an active ingredient can drive the price up by 3-4 times the amount to just have a product that sounds good.

If your looking for targeted results then these isles are best walked past, straight to your closest salon that specializes in skin.

These salons stock the ranges that will offer you the results you want and will most likely be targeted towards specific skin needs or concerns.

Benefits Of Using Targeted Skincare Alongside Facials

One of the key benefits of using targeted skincare is that they are formulated with specific actives designed for your skin issues.

Targeted skincare products come in a range of forms and are normally combined to include at minimum a cleanser, moisturiser, serum and sunscreen. You can also add on to this if your looking to have a strong skincare routine. This might include adding a night moisturiser or a retinol serum or exfoliant to be used every few days.

Another advantage of using targeted skincare products is although they may appear more expensive they will actually save you money in the long run.

Imagine wanting to lose weight, you join a fancy gym. You work out every other day but on your way home each day you stop off to buy junk food. You are putting a lot of effort into going to the gym but instead of following it up with the most important factor of healthy eating, your fueling your body with high calory low nutrition foods which are going to result in little to no benefits from going to the gym. Now instead of eating junk food you eat a healthy home made dinner full of nutrients and lower in energy.

Your going to see a massive difference and capitalize on the work and money you spend at the gym. In this scenario the healthy food is your active skincare from a skincare specialist and you gym is you applying the products. Notice how much more benefit you will get from using targetted skincare.

If your unsure what products are best for your skin then make sure you chat to our therapists at Bare Skin and Beauty in Ellenbrook, Perth.

Post-Facial Care: Extending the Benefits of Your Facial at Home

After indulging in a rejuvenating facial treatment at a spa or skincare clinic, it’s crucial to continue the benefits of your facial at home through post-facial care. By following a few simple steps you can extend the results of your facial and maintain healthy, glowing skin between appointments.

Keep hydrated, number 1 is hydration! its come up a few times in this blog but that is because it is so important. You can also hydrate your skin by using a hydrating moisturiser or lotion. This will hep hydrate your skin from inside and out.

Sun protection is also essential after a facial. You should have a SPF applied by your therapist after your treatment but this will only last a few hours. If you get your treatment done in the morning dont forget to apply SPF again half way through the day.

and remember your skincare routine between treatments. This will keep the benefits from your last treatment as much as possible and then allow the therapist to gain extra benefits from your next facial treatment.

Hydration Hacks: Hydrating Your Skin Inside and Out for a Radiant Glow

Obviosuly the first step to staying hydrated is to drink plenty of water. It is best drinking water slowly throughout the day as it allows your body to absorb it as best as possible instead of just rushing through your system. Try adding additives like lemon juice, citric acid, sodium bicarbonate or even chai seeds to get added benefits from your water.

Eating food that are rich in water is also a great way to get incidental water. This includes foods such as cucumber, watermelon, oranges and spinach. These foods are also high in nutrients, so they are great for overall health.

Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, these are diuretics and work by stimulating your body to release fluid. This can result in any added hydration going straight through you instead of being utilized.

Try setting reminders or purchasing a bottle with times on it so that you keep track of your water intake. This is a great way to stay on to of hydration for people with busy lifestyles.

Carry a water bottle with you, make sure you keep a water bottle handy throughout the day so you can keep sipping water to make the most out of it.

Be mindful of the heat, Perth gets very hot so drink extra water when its hot even if your under aircon because that also dehydrates you.

Follow these hydration tips and your skin will stay hydrated well after your facial.

Lifestyle Factors: Incorporating Healthy Habits for Long-term Skin Health

There are a few lifestyle factors that will hinder your skin success.

This includes, drinking more than recommended. Smoking cigarettes or alternatives. Spending a lot of time in the sun, especially without sunscreen!

Stress and lack of sleep are also a huge factor in your skin’s success.

While many of these attributes are hard or almost impossible to change. It’s the small changes that make up the big change. Instead of scrolling through facebook or watching TV, spend a few minutes each day to just sit in silence and reflect on everything. Breathing is a huge benefit when done properly and can even reduce your blood acidity.

Go for a walk, make it a habit that each day instead of sitting down and pouring yourself a wine, you go for a 15minute walk. You will be surprised how quickly it becomes a new habit. Instead of coming home and wanting a drink you will come home and want a walk.

Enzyme Peel Vs Chemical Peel – Which Is Right for You?

O Cosmedics Oxygenating Peel Perth

“Breaking it Down: Chemical Peel vs Enzyme Peel – Which Is Right for You?”

2 of the main peels offered in 2023 are Chemical Peels or Enzyme peels. While it might sound like there isnt much difference in the 2 there is actually a difference. Its important to know which one is suitable for you. At Bare Skin and Beauty Ellenbrook, Perth we offer both treatments and we want to make sure you get the treatment you want and deserve. Education is key for optimum skin health so let’s dive into it.

What Are Peel?

Lets me start off by explaining that both chemical and enzyme peels are a similar treatment. They are performed almost identically. Both should be done by professional skin therapists, they are both done in private rooms and should be performed in a relaxed manner. It is important for both that the environment is clean and the protocol is similar. Chemical and Enzyme peels are both applied after thoroughly cleansing the skin, they are applied with a spatula or brush, left to work and then removed thoroughly.

What Are Chemical Peels?

A Chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution to your skin which causes the top layer of skin to exfoliate and then over time peel off (hence the name peel). This treatment reveals fresh, new skin cells that are smoother and more even in tone and  result in a brighter, more youthful look.

They can range from very mild chemical peels. You might not even feel any discomfort with these but also includes very deep peels where fans or cooling appliances are needed. These fans reduce the amount of heat you feel when it peel is on. mild peels are what Bare Skin and Beauty mainly offer. The reason for this is because we would prefer to work with you on your journey, ensure your skin doesnt go into shock mode from the chemical peel and ensure that your treatments are adjusted each time to ensure maximum benefits. The mild peels also require lower recovery time. Some of the deeper peels can require weeks to recover and sometimes even include hospital stay.

What Are Enzyme Peels?

Enzyme peels are generally milder than traditional chemical peels and are suitable for most skin types. This includes sensitive skin. They are often used to brighten and smooth the skin tone, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall texture and tone of the skin.

During an enzyme peel, the enzyme solution is applied to the skin and left on for the enzymes to work and then removed gently. Enzyme peels are generally safe and effective and are a much safer option compared to traditional chemical peels.

When the enzyme solution is applied to your skin the enzymes break down the proteins that hold your skin together. This unclogs pores, removes dead skin cells and reveals smoother, brighter and more youthful skin.

How Do Chemical and Enzyme Peels Differ?

Reading above they both seem like very similar treatments but the difference is in the solutions applied. The enzyme peels are a type natural enzyme, such as papain (from papaya). They eat away at your skin to allow the skin to break away from the lower layers. Unlike chemical peels which use acids to break down the bonds between skin cells and are a lot stronger and more forceful than enzymes.

When you have a chemical Peel the solution that is applied is a form of acid. The acids break down the bonds between skin cells to remove dead and damaged skin cells and reveal new, healthy skin cells. This is much more aggressive and can result in more down time and higher risks but chemical peels can also provide more benefits.

The Benefits of Chemical Peels for Skin Rejuvenation

The benefits of having a chemical peel includes improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, reduced hyperpigmentation and acne scars. Peels can also increase collagen and elastin production making your skin tighter and more youthful. There are also specific Chemical peels that are used to treat acne-prone skin and help unclog pores and reduce the frequency of breakouts.

The Benefits of Enzyme Peels for Skin Exfoliation

Enzyme peels also have the added bonus of stimulating the skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation processes. This helps to increase blood flow to the skin and can improve the skin’s texture, tone. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Who Can Benefit from Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels and enzyme peels can both be beneficial for improving the appearance and texture of the skin, but they are suited for different skin types and concerns.

Chemical peels are generally recommended for people with more significant skin concerns, such as deep wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone and texture. They can penetrate deeper into the skin and provide more dramatic results. However, they can also be more aggressive and may require a longer recovery time.

Who Can Benefit from Enzyme Peels?

Enzyme peels, on the other hand, are typically recommended for individuals with milder skin concerns, such as dull or congested skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and mild discoloration. They are generally gentler on the skin and can be used on sensitive skin types. They can also be performed more regularly so are a great add on for monthly treatments.

Are Chemical Peels Safe for All Skin Types?

Chemical peels are generally suitable for all skin types except sensitive or reactive skin. It is highly recommended to chat to a skin therapist to find out your options for Chemical peels.

Are Enzyme Peels Safe for All Skin Types?

Yes enzymes are generally safe for all skin types. They work a lot more in sync with your body. They generally wont over exfoliate your skin compared with chemical peels. Enzyme peels are the perfect option so sensitive skin but it is best to consult with Bare Skin and Beauty skin therapists because it can vary on case by case situation.

How to Choose Between Chemical and Enzyme Peels

If you are looking for the biggest benefits from treatments. Have non sensitive skin and don’t mind if you have down time. A chemical peel might be for you but don’t forget that its not as relaxing as an enzyme peel and you need a a higher pain tolerance. If your looking for something more natural that works with your skin over time and want the monthly relaxing facial then its possible that enzyme peels are the better option. Either way Bare Skin and Beauty are here to help. We are located in Ellenbrook Perth and would love to work with you on obtaining your skin goals.

Glowing Through Pregnancy: Skincare Tips for Healthy & Radiant Skin

Get Skincare advice from Perth Skin therapists

When your pregnant your body goes through beautiful and sometimes challenging changes. Its important to understand that your body is working differently to how it usually works. Part of these changes are expressed through your skin. Below is some advice to help you through this amazing but challenging time.

Understanding Changes in Your Skin During Pregnancy

One of the most common changes you may experience when pregnant is an increase in oil production. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can lead to acne breakouts. The increased oil can result in clogged pores and blemishes. It’s essential to maintain a regular skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing while you’r pregnant. However it’s important to remember that certain acne-fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid and retinoids shouldnt be used when pregnant which means that you may need to reconsider the skincare products you’r using.

Another common skin change during pregnancy is hyperpigmentation. This is the darkening of your skin in certain areas and is often referred to as the “mask of pregnancy” or chloasma. It typically appears on the face especially around the nose, cheeks and forehead. This happens due to an increase in melanin production.

Pregnancy can also cause changes to the skin’s texture, can make your skin dry or give you itchy skin. This is the opposite to a increase in oil flow and often happens due to a decrease in the skin’s natural oils. This can lead to dryness and flaky skin.

If you already suffer from concerns such as eczema or psoriasis you might experience an increase in severity with these conditions when pregnant. If these concerns become serious it is important to see a doctor but a good skincare routine or seeking advice from a experienced skin therapist can also help reduce visual signs of these concerns.

Nourishing Your Skin from the Inside Out with a Healthy Diet

When your pregnant it is more important than ever to get a well-rounded, nutritious diet. You’re not only eating for yourself but eating for your baby.

Your skincare will only get you so far with your skin, your lifestyle and diet will make up the difference. What you eat plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin from the inside out. A diet rich in essential nutrients can help improve skin health, prevent common skin problems and support the overall health and development of the growing baby.

Vitamin C is essential for healthy skin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which helps protect the skin from free radical damage and supports collagen production. It helps skin elasticity and firmness.

Some of the foods rich in vitamin C are citrus fruits, berries, kiwi, broccoli, and bell peppers.

Another essential nutrient is vitamin E. Another antioxidant that helps protect the skin from UV damage, promotes skin hydration, and reduces inflammation.

Some foods rich in vitamin E are almonds, sunflower seeds, avocado, and spinach.

Omega-3 fatty acids are also essential for healthy skin. These essential fatty acids cant be made from your body like other fatty acids and need to be obtained through your diet. These are healthy fats which help maintain the skin’s moisture barrier to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Try introducing foods like salmon and sardines, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts to obtain Omega-3 fatty acids.

On top of these foods its important to eat a variety of foods in the food groups and include a large amount of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can also help improve skin health.

If you are a vegetarian it is also important to eat enough protein, this includes tofu, nuts and seed and legumes.

Seek advice from a nutritionist to get a full meal plan designed.

Staying Hydrated: The Importance of Water for Pregnancy Skin

Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining healthy and radiant skin during pregnancy. It is recommended that pregnant women drink at least eight to ten glasses of water per day.

Water plays a vital role in keeping the skin hydrated, supple and healthy. It helps transport nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells and flush out toxins and waste products from the body. If your dont drink enough water is can contribute to skin problems like acne and dullness.

In addition to drinking water, you can help stay hydrated by eating water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables. This can help increase water intake and provide additional nutrients that support skin health.

Gentle Skincare Routine: Cleansing, Exfoliating, and Moisturizing During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, it’s important to be mindful of the skincare products you use and the routines you follow. The hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy can affect the skin in various ways, and some skincare ingredients can be harmful to the developing baby. A gentle skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing can help maintain healthy and radiant skin during pregnancy without causing any harm.

Choosing The Right Cleanser:

When your pregnant or expecting it is important to choose a cleanser that is free of harsh chemicals which include sulfates and parabens. Look for a mild, pH-balanced cleanser that is specifically designed for sensitive skin. A great way to find a sensitive cleanser is by looking for the word isethionate in the ingredient list which is one of the better-quality surfactants and is milder than cheaper alternatives. A great cleanser that includes this ingredient is the medik8 Micellar Mouse or Surface Radiance Cleanse

Add An Exfoliator:

Exfoliation is important for removing dead skin cells, which can clog pores and cause breakouts. Use a gentle exfoliant such as

Medik8 Clarity Peptides or Medik8 Press & Glow and limit exfoliation to once or twice a week.

Moisturising:

An essential part to maintaining hydrated skin is to use a quality moisturizer. Look for a moisturizer that is free of synthetic fragrances, phthalates, and parabens, as these can be harmful to the developing baby. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which helps to lock in moisture and antioxidants which help to protect the skin from free radical damage. Products such as O Cosmedics Comfort Cream or O Cosmedics Immortal Cream are a great option for pregnant mums but make sure you consult an experience skin therapist to be sure.

Sun Protection:

Since you will be more suseptable to hyper pigmentation when pregnant its important to protect yourself from the sun by using Medik8 Physical Sunscreen SPF50 or O Cosmedics Untinted Mineral Pro SPF30 which are broad spectrum sunscreens with high SPF. You should use these on a daily basis.

Remember that skincare can only get you so far with looking after yourself when pregnant and should be used alongside the above recommendations.

Avoiding Harmful Skincare Ingredients During Pregnancy

Just like we have recommended how to look after your skin during pregnancy and what to do. There is also a list of what not to do during pregnancy. This includes avoiding some skincare ingredients which can be detrimental to you and your baby. Avoiding the following ingredients are a great first step.

Retinoids and Vitamin As: Retinoids are commonly found in anti-aging skincare products, it is recommended to avoid these and instead use ingredients like Bakuchiol peptides which can be converted into vitamin A in the body.

Exfoliating acids such as Salicylic acid: Salicylic acid is commonly used in acne treatments. It is best to avoid using skincare products that contain salicylic acid or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs).

Hydroquinone: Hydroquinone is commonly used in skin lightening products. Avoid this product and instead try looking at Vitamin C options or licorice extract which both have skin lightening and brightening properties.

Phthalates: Phthalates are commonly found in synthetic fragrances and can potentially disrupt the endocrine system. As a standard we say avoid synthetic fragrance when possible but its more important during pregnancy.

Parabens: Parabens are commonly used as preservatives in skincare products. Choose something with a naturally acceptable preservative instead.

  4. Practice Good Hygiene: It goes without saying but good hygiene is essential to preventing and treating acne. It is also important to wash your pillow case regularly, it is amazing how much bacteria is on your pillow!
  5. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Your diet and lifestyle truely shows through your skin. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle can help reduce acne. Things to consider are eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, managing stress and getting in your 15 minutes of exercise each day.

Understanding Acne Skin: Causes and Types

Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. It can happen anywhere of your body but the most common concerns are associated with the face.

The most common type of acne is called acne vulgaris, it is diagnosed by the presence of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and cysts and is caused by overproduction of oil in your skin. This can be triggered by hormonal changes, genetics, and even environmental factors.

Hormonal acne is a type of acne that we will focus on a bit lower but it is caused by hormones. It can be active at any stage in life but mainly during pregnancy or menopause.

Another type of acne is cystic acne, this is the most painful acne, the painful cysts form deep within the skin.

Skincare 101: Building a Routine for Acne-Prone Skin

While supermarket products are cheap, they are cheap. You can’t get good quality ingredients for $10 at your local supermarket and you definitely cant expect to get amazing results from those products. The cheap products lack the actives and formulation that our affordable skincare ranges offer. You might spend a few more dollars on the ranges we offer such as O Cosmedics or Medik8 but I can assure you that you will get better value from your investment.

Fighting Acne Skin from Within: Diet and Lifestyle Changes

You can fight your acne with diet and lifetyle along side your treatments and skincare. This involves eating more acne friendly foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid processed, sugary foods, and dairy.

Drink plenty of water and staying hydrated can help flush out toxins and promote clearer skin.

It is important that you also eat a variety of foods and seek dietary advise from a qualified nutritionist prior to making any drastic changes.

The Role of Stress in Acne: Managing Your Mental Health

Stress can result in hormonal acne. It is important to manage stress not only to reduce acne but to also live a happy, healthy lifestyle.

When stressed, our bodies release hormones called cortisol which trigger an increase in oil production in our skin. The excess oil can clog pores and lead to acne breakouts. Stress can also weaken the immune system which makes it harder for the body to fight off bacteria and inflammation.

Hormonal Acne: Causes and Treatments

Just like your skin reacts to stress. Your skin can break out from other hormones also mainly from androgens such as testosterone. Just like Cortisol, testosterone stimulates the production of oil in the skin, leading to clogged pores and acne breakouts.

Acne Skin Consultation

In your skin consultation our trained therapists can assess your skin and the deeper layers of your skin. We can consider what might be the trigger and help make good skincare recommendations to help you get better results.

LED Light Therapy Perth

Introduction to LED Light Therapy: An Overview

LED light therapy is a facial treatment that uses different wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin at varying depths. It can address a range of skin concerns such as acne, wrinkles and hyper pigmentation.

LED stands for “light-emitting diode” The weavelengths from the light stimulate the skin cells and can results in multiple benefits such as promoting collagen products, reducing inflamnation and improving skin texture and tone.

There are several different colours of LED light therapy including blue, red, green and infrared. Each of their uses will be explained later in this article.

Book a consultation with our therapists and more information on LED

Benefits of LED Light Therapy: How It Works

LED light therapy works by using the different wavelengths of the light to penetrate the skin. Each colour has different wave lengths and stimulates a different response, such as increasins collagen production and improving circulation.

Different Types of LED Lights and Their Uses:

  • Red LED: Used to stimulate collagen production which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it also helps to improve skin texture and tone.
  • Blue LED: Used to target the bacteria that causes acne (P acne). Blue light works by penetrating the skin to kill the bacteria.
  • Green LED: The colour is good pigmentation. It can help create a more uniform skin tone.
  • Yellow LED: Used to improve circulation in the skin, helpful to manage redness, inflammation, rosacea and sunburn.
  • Near-infrared: Known for its ability to penetrate deeper into the skin than other colours. Near Infrared can help to stimulate collagen production and improve circulation. A great extra addition to any other colour because it can be used in conjunction with them.

Understanding the Science behind LED: Photobiomodulation

Photobiomodulation (PBM) or also known as low-level light therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses different coloured light to stimulate cellular activity and promote a visual benefit.

LED Light therapy is a form of PBM and is a great add on to any skin or facial treatment.

PBM has been shown to effectively reduce signs of aging, acne, redness plus many other skin concerns.

Safety and Precautions for LED Light Therapy: What You Need to Know

Although LED Light Therapy is noninvasive and generally considered safe for everyone there are certain medical conditions and medication that can make your skin more sensitive to light which means this treatment wouldnt be suitable. Its important to consult with our therapists if this is the case and you may be required to provide a doctors certificate prior to LED.

Combining LED With Other Treatments: Synergistic Effect

The best way to use LED is to combine it with other treatments to provide a synergistic approach. This will make LED more effective than using it alone. Some treatments you can combine it with are below:

  • Skin Needling: A very effective treatment where small needles penetrate the surface layers of your skin, when combined with LED the results of microneedling can be enhanced and can reduce inflammation after the treatment.
  • Chemical Peels: Chemical peels can be used to target multiple different concerns and when combined with LED it can encourage the peeling process and provide better results as well as resulting in less red skin after the treatment.
  • Acne treatments: Speak to our therapists about what treatments are great for acne which will include some chemical peels. Adding on Blue LED can help target the bacteria in acne.

To sum it up LED Light Therapy is often an overlooked addition to your treatment and should be considered as a regular add on.

One of Medik8’s Delivery Systems is based around liposomes, these are tiny little pockets of actives with a lipid bilayer to encapsulate them. When these are applied to the skin it helps the active penetrate deep into the skins layers because our skins cells are also bad of lipid bilayers.

Skin Needling Perth

Skin Needling Perth

In some cases, skin needling in Perth goes by the name of microneedling therapy or collagen induction therapy. It uses a micro-needling tool to induce controlled skin damage as part of a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation process.

It uses radial discs with fine microneedles of various diameters and lengths. These are made of various materials, including polymers, metals, glass, and silicons. The needles can be up to 3 mm long, although they are usually 0.5 mm long to reduce bleeding and promote quick healing.

It is one of the safest skin-treatment techniques available. The results from chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser therapies are improved when coupled with skin needling Perth.

How Does Skin Needling Work?

Each tiny needle prick leaves a channel or microscopic wound in the skin. After ten minutes, the generated microchannels naturally shut, maintaining the integrity of the epidermal barrier. It, in a sense, injures the superficial dermal collagen strands and small blood vessels on the skin’s surface. This triggers a reaction within the skin for repair. This “repair” leads to new capillaries, elastin, and collagen, improving skin texture, firmness, and moisture. This is what provides the skin with a healthy glow.

Benefits of Skin Needling.

Skin needling, combined with various facials, has a wide variety of benefits, such as:

  • Improving loose skin.
  • Skin discoloration and melasma.
  • Minimizing both deep and small wrinkles
  • It helps fade stretch marks.
  • Minimizing scars (including hypertrophic scars) brought on by heat burns, surgery, or acne.

Overall, it helps improve the look and texture of the skin. Furthermore, it doesn’t carry any side effects of skin discoloration, which can happen when laser, light, and heat are used.

What May I Anticipate Following Skin Needling?

After skin needling Perth, your skin may burn or feel tight for a few days or weeks. In addition, some people have dry, flaky skin, which is improved by moisturizer.

Most people require several skin needling sessions, often spaced 3 to 8 weeks apart. Results may not be seen for three to six months. The procedure may then need to be repeated once a year for maintenance.

While many people believe that skin needling will hurt, numbing cream is actually utilized during the treatment to ensure that all patients are comfortable. The process will begin with a good thorough cleaning of your face and neck area. You should arrive at your appointment without makeup on when possible. Once the area is dry, the numbing cream can be applied.

It will depend on the type of results you are using the procedure for, but the process typically takes 5-60 minutes.

Aftercare of Skin Needling

It is important that you take the time to understand the aftercare which is expected of you from any facial treatment. For skin needling, you’ll need to avoid the sun as much as possible. You may notice excessive dryness that should be treated with gentle moisturizers. You can use makeup and topical products as normal the day following treatment. Remember that this treatment leaves microholes or small wounds, so ensure that your makeup and applicators are clean.

Our Beauty Salon is committed to assisting clients in safeguarding their skin against harm and early aging. Why Use Spray Tan?

1. No Sunlight

This is possibly the most significant advantage of spray tans. Using spray tanning in Perth can achieve a safer radiant glow. Getting a regular natural glow might sound tempting but it comes with some risks. Spray tanning is considered a safe way to get a tan.

2. Quick Results

You don’t need to spend a lot of time in the sun to look sun-kissed when you use spray tanning. If you have a very hectic schedule, this procedure will only take you 10 to 20 minutes to complete and provide you with results you will be proud of.

3. Natural Looking

Unlike tanning creams, you won’t feel sticky or messy after a spray tan. Also, because a qualified expert carries out the operation, you’ll get a very uniform tan. This ensures that your tanned appearance will be as natural-looking as possible.

Preparing for Your Spray-Tanning Experience

Moisturize

The first step is to moisturize! Moisturized skin assists in attaining the best radiance. Before getting a spray tan, apply a moisturizing lotion every day for a week. This will help prep the skin for the spray tan by allowing it to have the very best foundation possible.

Exfoliate and Shave

In order to prevent a blotchy appearance, shaving and exfoliating a few days before getting a spray tan are essential. For an even application and to give your pores time to close, we advise finishing this step three days before you intend to tan.

Apply to Clean Skin

Have a good shower the day before applying spray tanner, and refrain from shaving and exfoliating. After showering, avoid using any lotions on the day of your appointment.

TEEN FACIAL PERTH

Teen Facials Perth

If your teen has requested a facial, you probably are thinking, “I don’t have the time or money for me to get one!”  However, this is, most likely, not just another extravagant thing they have wanted. Teen facials Perth is something that will help them with their self-esteem, as many teens suffer from various skin conditions. Allowing your teen to get a facial tells them they are heard and loved. Our teens are experiencing a lot these days, and having a positive outlook on life is so important. Getting a teen facial Perth isn’t about being pampered as much as it’s about controlling their acne and other skin conditions.

Regular visits to a Skin Therapist are important for teens as their hormonal fluctuations can turn into a battle causing teenage acne. Furthermore, starting aesthetician facials early has a number of advantages, which we will address here shortly. Teenage facials usually focus on the outbreaks that are frequently connected to adolescent skin.

Medik8 Rewind Peel Perth - Exfoliate and Steam

Why Should Teens Get Facials?

These facials are designed with the demands of the teen’s complexion in mind. They can assist with ongoing teen skincare issues or stop them before they arise. Furthermore, they teach the teen the value of skincare and its benefits. Furthermore, our estheticians can assist your teen with better at-home routines.

Improve Their Understanding of Skin Care

Going to a professional esthetician helps your teen better understand what it is that their skin needs. They can ask questions and learn more about the various things they can be done at home to improve the overall look of their skin. Nowadays, many teenagers use the internet, where YouTube videos could teach them harmful or useless skin care techniques. The goal of an esthetician is not to provide the facial and go. They are there to help educate your teen in ways they can enhance the longevity of their facial.

Assist with Flare-Ups Due to Hormonal Changes

Teenagers’ acne can be difficult to cure during the adolescent years. However, monthly facials are a way to help. During this time, they have a professional with whom they can ask questions and get a better understanding of what they can do through not only skincare but diet to help their situation. Every person’s skin is different and will react differently to different treatment options. To find out the best treatment, it is important that they speak with a professional.

Improves Self Esteem

Our self-esteem is important in the adolescent years. In fact, it is a time when we are developing our own personal worth. Getting teen facials and having great skin directly affects how your teen feels about themselves.

When it comes to increasing their self-esteem, the fast improvements acne-prone children see following a facial are considerably better than waiting for a long-term acne treatment plan that typically works gradually. Furthermore, in order to maintain the results they can already see, your teen may be more motivated to adhere to a proper skincare routine.

If you have a teen that suffers from skin issues, you might want to consider getting them a facial. There are many benefits, as you can see, and you might want to even consider joining them for a wonderful bonding experience.

Microdermabrasion Perth

Hydradermabrasion

Microdermabrasion Perth

Our skin experiences daily damage. Age, dehydration, pollution, sun exposure, and other aggravating factors can damage the skin and cause fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, age spots, pigmentation, and roughened texture.

A non-invasive, chemical-free procedure called microdermabrasion can be used to remove the topmost layer of dead skin cells and reveal the healthier, younger-looking skin underneath. Because it may be completed quickly and with little to no discomfort, it is often performed during lunchtime.

It is typically utilized to brighten a dull complexion, lighten acne scars, and balance out skin tones. This technique is often used for various skin issues and is often combined with various other facial techniques to improve the overall results.

What to Expect During Microdermabrasion?

The procedure feels like a little scratching. Some clients say it reminds them of a windy beach day. However, it is a bit relaxing for some, and when complete, your skin will have a positively amazing glow about it.

Some people get a little concerned when they start to research microdermabrasion Perth. However, don’t let the phrase “scratching” scare you away. Most of the time, you can only sense the vacuum’s suction as it moves over your skin. It’s a little more noticeable in some places where you’re a little fleshier, like your cheeks and the area around your nose.

Overall, the procedure is really quick and non-invasive, so there is no recovery time needed.

Benefits of Microdermabrasion Perth

Several textural and pigmentation problems brought on by acne, sun exposure, and age are reduced or completely eliminated by microdermabrasion treatments.

Some additional advantages of microdermabrasion:

  • Skin quality
  • Reduced the appearance of UV damage
  • Improved collagen and elastin growth.
  • Minimal to no downtime.
  • Quick process.
  • Smoother, younger-looking skin.

Another huge benefit is that it helps your skin absorb the different facial products better and faster. This will lead to much longer-lasting results.

Who Can Benefit from Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion can be an efficient and painless treatment for people with sun damage, wrinkles, acne scars, or skin tone and texture issues.

The following conditions can be treated by microdermabrasion:

  • Skin texture problems
  • Minor scars
  • Clogged pores
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Fine lines
  • Dry skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne

Advice on Getting Ready for a Microdermabrasion Treatment

The nicest thing about microdermabrasion Perth is that it can be used at any time of year, on the skin of any hue, and requires little to no preparation. However, in order to maximize the benefits of your microdermabrasion treatment, you should:

  • Stop using any exfoliating products or techniques seven days before treatment. This includes physical scrubs like Ultrasonic brushes, glycolic and salicylic acid, and retinoid creams (those with tretinoin, adapalene, or tazarotene as active components).
  • One week before your procedure, refrain from any additional cosmetic procedures. All of them might weaken your skin and make it more prone to injury.
  • Both smoking and drinking have an impact on how quickly your skin heals. It will be more effective and take up less time if you can avoid these things at least a week before your therapy.
  • For 2-4 weeks before the treatment, abstain from all types of tanning, including direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray/lotion tanning.
  • Remain hydrated. Healthy skin is skin that is nourished from the inside out.

How Often Should You Have a Facial

Unless you have a specific skin issue (acne, hyper-pigmentation, etc.) that you’re attempting to resolve, once a month is perfect for facials. However, if you are experiencing acute issues, you might need to come in for several treatments.

The stratum corneum, the top layer of visible skin, regenerates itself every 28 days, which is why you should receive facials every month. Your skin is constantly producing new cells to replace the old ones from the treated cells.

Your skin cells will start to reproduce healthier cells if you give your skin a head start (i.e., a fabulous facial), in return, providing you with a better complexion.

Cosmelan Treatment Perth

Cosmelan Peel Perth
MESOESTETIC TREATMENTS PERTH

Cosmelan Peel Perth

If your considering getting a Cosmelan Treatment in Perth it is important to understand what it is and why it is so popular.

Cosmelan is a facial treatment designed to reduce the appearance of dark spots, melasma, and other forms of hyperpigmentation. The treatment involves a two-part process that includes an in salon Cosmelan leave on mask followed by a skincare home routine to maintain the results.

The pre prep for a Cosmelan peel is a lactic acid peel which helps to prepare the skin for the cosmelan mask treatment by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. The lactic acid peel helps the cosmelan mask to penetrate deeper into your skin, where it can be more effective at working

The first step of the treatment involves the application of the clay like mask, which contains a blend of active ingredients that work to inhibit the production of melanin. The mask is left on the skin for around eight to 10 hours and is then removed to reveal brighter and more even skin.

After the initial treatment, clients are given a homecare kit that includes products to help maintain the results. This kit includes a Mesoestetic daily moisturizer with sunscreen to protect the skin from further sun damage and a Cosmelan 2 product to help fade any remaining dark spots.

The treatment is specifically beneficial for people who live in Perth because Perth has a relatively high level of UV which can increase the risk of sun damage and hyperpigmentation. It is also important to take other steps to reduce pigmentation such as wearing sunscreen and hats. For more information on ways to reduce migmentation talk to our Perth skin specialists at Bare Skin and Beauty.

If you are considering cosmelan as a treatment option for hyperpigmentation, it is recommended to book in a 100% redeemable consultation with our skin therapists who can evaluate your skin and determine whether cosmelan is a good fit for you.

Medik8 Rewind Peel

Medik8 Rewind Peel Perth2

What it’s like to the have a Medik8 Rewind Mask.

Wanting to rewind a few years I looked for a Peel that mainly offered anti-aging results but since im a bit of a wimp I wanted a peel that wasn’t going to burn my face off!

Medik8 describes the Rewind Peel as “A targeted formulation that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps fade away imperfection, leaving the skin visibly smoothed and rejuvenated.” But it doesn’t say anything about pain level or how much of a burning sensation it will be.

I have been to Bare Skin and Beauty for a few years now so I am familiar with there process but for anyone that hasn’t been to them I will start from the beginning.

When I arrived at Bare Skin and Beauty I was greeted by a friendly young gentleman and asked to have a seat in the waiting area. Waiting area is out of plan sight and have music and comfortable seating, its actually rather nice especially for a shopping centre location.

I was provided with the standard paperwork to ensure I had no contraindications that would make it a risk for me to have the treatment and waited for the therapist to come and greet me.

I was brought through the glass doors that separate the shop front from the treatment rooms and as soon as the doors close it suddenly gets a lot quieter. I am taken into a dimly lite room with back lighting to showcase the products, at this stage you pretty much forget that your in the middle of Ellenbrook Shopping centre and everything gets a lot more relaxed.

I have to say having relaxing music playing and the relaxing atmosphere definitely helps calm my nerves especially when I’m not sure what I’m in for with the Medik8 Rewind peel,

The therapist had all the products already prepared on the benchtop ready for my, laying in the comfy bed, listening to relaxing music I wait while my therapists does the final adjustments. A reassuring touch on the forehead tells me that she is about to start the facial and she starts cleansing my face.

She does a double cleanse and then wipes over my face with a pre peel prep which is a bit stinky but nothing too bad.

followed by applying the Medik8 peel to my face.

While she is applying the Medik8 Peel there is not much pain or burning at all, she gets to my nose and cheeks and I can feel a slight tingling but maybe a 2 out of 10 on the discomfort scale.

Probably the main downside at this stage is the peel is a bit stinky so it’s probably best not to breath through nose

The peel stays on for approximately 5 minutes and is then removed.

The therapist then uses the Medik8 neutralizer to neutralize the peel and all of a sudden things get a little more painful…

Its not too bad but I didn’t expect the worst part to be when the peel is actually removed haha.

Discomfort scale is probably around the 4 out of 10 at this stage so its still not too bad.

After the Medik8 Peel is neutralized the therapist applies a medik8 mask and it’s left to penetrate for 10minutes.

After 10 minutes the therapist comes back and removes the mask and massages whats left of the serum into my skin.

She then applied the LED mask for 20 minutes. When the LED is finished I am told to take my time to get ready and to meet the therapist out the front.

So generally if I haven’t been bombarded with sales pitches by now then this is the time for them to pounce. haha

I have just spent a good hour relaxing and the last thing I want is to be left feeling pressured into buying skincare products that im not sure I want or need.

The therapist advises that she would recommend a certain range of Medik8 products and im provided with Medik8 samples and told to let her know what I think of them next time im in. That was a lot less pushy than I expected. If I was in the market for Medik8 products I would not hesitate to purchase them now based on the full experience but I just topped up so I will wait until next time.

So the question is, was the Medik8 Rewind Peel worth it? And would I come back here to get it again?

After my treatment I definitely felt and looked Rewound haha, I was a little disappointed that it lacked some of the massage and other aspects I have received from other facials from Bare Skin and Beauty but I did book for a results based treatment and not a fluffy treatment.

The results is what I wanted and the results is what I got!

I know that it is recommended to have a routine of 6 peels but even after the 1 treatment my skin feels tighter, smoother and more hydrated. I look about 5 years younger and awake! Haha

When I chose to do the Medik8 Rewind Peel at Bare Skin and Beauty I did look at other clinics in Perth but a lot of them where located in the centre of Perth which is 30-40 minutes extra travel from where I live. The other locations had similar or lower star ratings and I truly feel I got a treatment that was as relaxing as it could be without feeling like im on a operating table. For these reasons I definitely rate trying 1 (or 6) Medik8 Rewind Peel at Bare Skin and Beauty
